Demetri completed the bachelor of science degree in physics and mathematics at Marquette University in 2015. He completed the master of science degree in physics at the College of William & Mary in 2017. After completing his graduate degree, Demetri pursued an opportunity as a federal civilian employee working as a research engineer in underwater robotics with the Naval Surface Warfare Center Panama City Division, Panama City, FL. He has worked on several robotics problems including scheduling and task allocation for cooperative teams of autonomous vehicles and digital twin development for unmanned systems. He began the doctoral program in computer science and engineering at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities in the fall of 2021. He is interested in using novel techniques in deep learning and computer vision for improving perception and learning in underwater field robotics, specifically trash detection and underwater object recognition.
